Vision
Aspen's urban renewal vision for the City Central precinct is to create a special place tailored to the lifestyle needs of its working, living and visiting population. It will be a prestigious address, providing a harmonious balance of commerce, hospitality, residential, retail, recreation and entertainment facilities.
Whether restoring or regenerating existing heritage structures or creating exciting new built forms, development decisions will continue to be based on ecologically sustainable criteria.
Scattered among the buildings will be intimate and people friendly recreational spaces including a landscaped plaza, interconnected walkways and a blend of cafes, restaurants and casual eateries. The eventual population of City Central will run to many thousands and will provide a significant source of on-going support for the retail tenancies.
The City Central precinct development is designed to shift the focus of Adelaide's CBD closer to Victoria Square, where there is already a diverse surrounding mix of government, commercial, professional, cultural, entertainment and hospitality establishments within minutes of the precinct, as well as public transport and parking stations.
Sustainable Development
In 2003 the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) launched the Green Star environmental rating system. This was the first comprehensive method for evaluating the environmental design and performance of buildings based on criteria such as energy and water consumption efficiency, quality of indoor environment and resource conservation.
Aspen, as a committed member of GBCA, has taken the lead in the South Australian property industry with the adoption of 5 Star sustainable development standards, signifying 'Australian Excellence', across the City Central Precinct.
